No corporatisation of agriculture: Agri Min Pawar

Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today categorically denied the corporatisation of agriculture. In a reply during question hour, he said that a sub committee was constituted to suggest ways to improve agriculture production and food security. It has recommended many measures to improve production.

They include liberalizing agri procurement ,streamlining norms for private investment in agricultural supply chain, revisiting Minimum Support Price, MSP norms and linking agri credit with crop insurance. The sub committee has also suggested to increase competition in rural banking and land
reforms in phased manners.

The Minister said that suggestion for
setting up agricultural parks and increase in Research and
Development, R and D investment were also made. Mr. Pawar said sub committee members include Dr. Ashok Ganguly, Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Mr. Jamshyd N Godrej and Mr. M S Banga and involvement of private sector is expected to give positive fillip to the development of agri sector in the country.
