No chance for military coup in democratic India: Antony

Seeking to put an end to the controversy over movement of two army units near Delhi in 2012, Defence Minister A K Antony has said there is not even a remote chance for a military coup in democratic India.

Talking to reporters after presenting the Coast Guard Awards at Kochi today, Antony said that Indian military is a responsible force which obeys the civilian government's decisions.

He criticized a section of the media for trying to create a controversy over the 2012 troop movement near Delhi and asserted that it was only a routine military exercise. The Defence Minister said it is a closed chapter.

Replying to queries on China, Antony said the border issue with China was very much under control and Defence Secretary would be meeting with his Chinese counterpart in New Delhi on Monday.
