No abrupt hike in air fare, says DGCA

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday said, there had been no unprecedented hike in fare as a result of large-scale cancellation of Kingfisher flights. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, DGCA Mr. Bharat Bhushan said, it has been keeping a close watch on air-fares since December 2010 and there has not been any abrupt rise in the fares to cash in on the situation.

The government has given an ultimatum of 24 hours to the airlines to come out with a revised schedule of flights to avoid any hardship to passengers. Mr. Bharat Bhusan said the airline has been asked to ensure passengers difficulties are minimised.
Kingfisher Airline's CEO Sanjay Aggarwal also briefed the aviation regulator, about their plans to end the large-scale disruptions of flights and their financial troubles.

Earlier, Civil Aviation Minister Mr Ajit Singh ruled out any bail out package for the private airline.
