Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sought continued Central assistance and higher allocation to the state in the 12th Five Year Plan, particularly in the infrastructure and farm sectors.
During his meeting with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday, Mr. Kumar cited the development deficit in the state.
In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Mukherjee, the Chief Minister urged him to continue the Special Assistance to Bihar
under Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) during 12th Plan. Mr. Kumar also suggested that Union and the state government identify major infrastructure schemes for implementation to meet the infrastructure needs of the state.
The Chief Minister sought the support of the Finance Minister for higher central allocation in agricultural sector.
