The Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar met the Governor Mr. D.Y Patil in Patna in the wake of political crisis in the State. He sought fresh vote of confidence in a special sitting of the State Assembly on the 19th of this month.
Earlier Mr. Kumar held an emergency cabinet meeting. All BJP ministers abstained.
On the other hand BJP ministers, state party President Mangal Pandey and other senior members met at Sushil Modi's residence to plan a future strategy. After the meeting State NDA Convener Mr. Nand Kishore Yadav said that Mr. Nitish Kumar must make his stand clear.
BJP President Rajnath Singh is now holding a meeting with Bihar central leaders at his residence in New Delhi. Bihar BJP in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad and Shanawaz Hussain are attending it.
Senior leaders of Janata Dal (United) are also meeting in Patna to take a final decision on the future of JD(U)-BJP alliance. The outcome of the meeting will be announced at 3 PM.
The two parties appeared set for imminent parting of ways in the wake of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's elevation as Chairman of BJP's Campaign Committee for 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, the Congress has said that the JD(U) is a like-minded party and it has faith in secularism. Party spokesman Bhakta Charan Das told reporters in New Delhi that like-minded secular parties have come together in the past and can come together even in future.
