Nitish Kumar offers to convene special session of Bihar Assembly on GST

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has offered to convene special session of Bihar Assembly for ratification of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill if needed, saying it would be beneficial to all states. <br/> <br/>Mr Kumar, while welcoming the passage of GST in Rajya Sabha, told mediapersons yesterday that state government was in support of the GST Bill and if needed, a special sitting of Assembly would be convened to ratify the legislation. <br/> <br/>The Chief Minister said he had called up Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and offered him to hold a special session of Assembly on GST. He exuded his confidence that GST would come into effect from April 1, 2017. <br/> <br/>The Constitution (122nd Amendment) Bill, 2014 on GST has already been passed by the Lok Sabha. It needs to be approved by Assemblies of at least half of the total 29 states.
