The Janata Dal (U) legislators of Bihar have authorized Nitish Kumar who stepped down as state Chief Minister, to choose the new chief minister. Addressing a press conference in Patna J D (U) state president Vashisht Narayan Singh said that the party would stake claim to form a new government in the state. He also said that Nitish Kumar may not remain Chief Minister but the party will work under his direction. He said that JD-U legislative party today adopted a four-point resolution accepting Nitish Kumar resignation. Mr. Kumar had resigned from the top post on Saturday after taking moral responsibility for the ruling party's debacle in the Lok Sabha elections.
