A NITI Aayog panel on agriculture has favoured preparing a model for land leasing act. The Aayog's task force under the Chairmanship of Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya held third and last regional consultation meeting with Northern, Eastern and North Eastern States yesterday. A consensus emerged in the meeting on NITI Aayog preparing a model land leasing Act, said a statement by the Aayog.<br/><br/>The states supported the initiatives to address the issue of declining water tables, it said. States also favoured higher efficiency in fertilizer use, improving of soil health and addressing the fertilizer subsidy.<br/><br/>The special focus on Eastern and Northeastern states for bringing green revolution and agricultural diversification to horticulture and livestock in original green revolution was also appreciated by the states.
