NITI Aayog has submitted a roadmap for reforms in Public Sector Undertakings, PSUs to the Prime Minister's Office. Sources said, the roadmap dealt with two sets of issues of which one pertains to decision regarding sick firms while the second is disinvestment or strategic sale where government wants to reduce its stake. Government has set a disinvestment target of over 56 thousand crore rupees for this fiscal. <br/><br/>Of this, 36 thousand crore rupees is to come from minority stake sale in PSUs and over twenty thousand crore rupees from strategic sale. Government kickstarted the disinvestment programme for the current fiscal with 11.36 per cent stake sale in NHPC. The government had raised 2,700 crore rupees through the process. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said in his Budget 2016-17 speech that NITI Aayog will identify PSUs for strategic sale.
