The first meeting of the Committee of Chief Ministers was held in New Delhi today to examine and implement measures to promote digital payment systems. The meeting was organised by NITI Aayog through Video Conferencing. <br/><br/>Centre had yesterday set up a 13 member committee comprised of Chief Ministers of six states – Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Odisha and Sikkim along with the Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog and experts. An official release said, the move is to promote transparency, financial inclusion and a healthy financial ecosystem nationwide and to give a boost to the adoption of digital payments systems by people at the grass root levels and small businesses.<br/><br/>The committee will identify and outline measures for rapid expansion and adoption of the system of digital payments Debit and Credit cards, E-wallets and internet banking and will broadly indicate the road map to be implemented in one year. The panel will also evolve an action plan to reach out to the public at large to create awareness and help them understand the benefits of such a switch over to digital economy.

NITI Aayog organises Committee of CMs' meet to promote digital payment systems
