Controversial godman Nithyananda was granted bail today by a court in Ramanagaram, near Bangalore. He had surrendered to the court yesterday and was put under custody for a day. Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda had ordered arrest of the godman and sealing of his ashram, after complaints of sexual abuse surfaced against him.
On the contrary, Nithyananda’s lawyers filed a petition in the High Court today against the Chief Minister and other officials for ordering issue of FIR and sealing of ashram. Nityananda is already facing criminal charges, including rape.
