Nithari case: SC rejects Surinder Koli's plea to review death penalty

The Supreme Court has dismissed the plea of Surinder Koli seeking review of the verdict upholding his conviction and death sentence in one of the murder cases in Nithari case.

A bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu said that no grounds have been made to persuade the Court to reconsider its earlier decision.

Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, who appeared for Koli had sought a reconsideration of the verdict, saying it was a case of miscarriage of justice.

He argued that the confessional statement of the accused was false and cannot be relied upon.

On September 8th, the bench had stayed the execution of death sentence of Koli for one week, for killing children in a house in Nithari village in Noida in 2006. Later, on September 12th, the stay on the execution of Koli was extended till yesterday.
