The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy has started an MA programme in English Literature, as a first step in removing barriers between arts, sciences and Technology, in line with the recently announced National Education Policy (NEP).<br />'' <br />''The NIT is also taking serious steps to achieve the status of being "Locally Relevant and Globally competitive" as envisaged by the Prime Minister in his Man Ki Baat address.<br />'' <br />''Programmes are being charted out with the aim of utilising technology development for the benefit of the local communities.<br />'' <br />''NIT Director Dr Mini Shaji Thomas said that the Institute has also plans to start an <br />''online programme which will increase the number of students in a big way, in <br />''alignment with NEP 2020.<br />'' <br />''She also pointed out that NIT Tiruchirappalli's incorporation of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota from the year 2019 onwards for undergraduate and PhD <br />''programme in tune with the ethos and rationale of NEP 2020.<br />'' <br />''Dr Mini Shaji also revealed that NIT is embarking on a programme to nurture and increase the teaching skills of its faculty.<br />'' <br />''Accordingly, fresh Ph.D. entrants, irrespective of discipline, will be required to take credit-based courses in teaching skills, pedagogy and writing skills <span style="color: #222222;">related to their topic of research.</span><br />
