NIT Tiruchirappalli, functioning under the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development, has been following up with research and development efforts to help the fight against Covid 19 pandemic.<br />''<br />''NIT Director, Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas handed over 3 dimensional, printed, reusable face shields to the Dean of KAP Viswanathan Memorial Medical College Hospital Trichy yesterday. 100 shields were handed over in the first stage.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Dr Mini Shaji Thomas said that the face shields were developed in-house at NIT Tiruchirappalli. She pointed out that these  transparent screens will effectively cover the face and help prevent infectious droplets from entering the eyes, nose and mouth, making them essential for front line medical professionals who closely move with COVID-19 patients.</span><br />
