Nissan Motors has said it will recall nearly 540,000 vehicles worldwide, most of these in the United States, due to brake pedal defects and faulty fuel gauges. In a statement Nisan said it planned to inspect and, if necessary, repair brake pedal pins and fuel gauge components on certain trucks and mini-vans. However, it said no accidents or injuries have been reported connected with these issues. The recall of vehicles also affects Canada, Mexico, West Asia, Ukraine, Russia and Taiwan. The announcement follows Toyota's recall of more than 8 million cars worldwide, after dozens of deaths in the US were linked to safety defects.
