Nirupama Rao holds talks on bilateral issue with her US counterpart

India’s Foreign Secretary, Mrs Nirupama Rao met her counterpart the US Under Secretary of State, Mr William Burns and the Deputy Secretary of State, Mr James Steinberg in Washington on Monday and discussed the process of renewal of the dialogue architecture built on the five pillars of strong cooperation, Energy and Climate Change, Education and Development, Economy, trade and Agriculture; Science and Technology and Health and Innovation. The US Secretary of State for Global Affairs, Ms Maria Otero was also present. The meeting assumes significance in view of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s forthcoming visit to the United States in November this year. Speaking to All India Radio the official Spokesperson of the Indian Embassy in Washington said measures to counter terrorism and the civil nuclear agreement also figured in the discussions.
