The government says, the skill development programme – “Hunar” – under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will be extended to more girls from the Muslim community to enable them to nurture their skills. Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal informed this while giving away certificates to the pass-outs of the programme in New Delhi. About 1,613 girls took admission and 218 learners passed from 14 centres in the old city area of Delhi in different trades such as tailoring, basic computing, preservation of vegetables and fruits and embroidery under the programme.
AIR Correspondent reports that “Hunar” was launched in February last year as part of an endeavour to promote school education and skills among disadvantaged communities.
