Nine Security personnel killed in two suicide attacks in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, at least nine security personnel were killed today in two Taliban suicide attacks in capital Kabul and the northern city of Kunduz. Two suicide bombers attacked an Afghan army vehicle and killed four soldiers on Jalalabad highway in Kabul. Deputy city police chief Khalil Dastyar said the two attackers were also killed in the incident. He said one of the attackers detonated his suicide vest and the other one was killed by Afghan police. The police official said there were no initial reports of any civilian casualties. In another incident, suicide bombers attacked an army recruiting base in northern city of Kunduz early today, killing at least five soldiers. Kunduz provincial police chief Abdul Rahman Sayedkhili said three army soldiers and two policemen were killed in the gunfight with suicide bombers. He said three attackers were also killed and at least one attacker was still fighting inside the base. He said militants had breached the training centre and two of them had detonated their explosive-packed vests during the shootout. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for both the attacks.
