In Assam, nine insurgent groups will lay down arms at Guwahati on the 24th of this month. The underground groups laying down arms include- All Adivsasi National Liberation Army, Adivasi Cobra Militant of Assam, Birsa Commando Force, Santhal Tigers’ Forum, Adivasi People’s Army, Kuki Liberation Army, United Kukigram Defence Army, Kuki Revolutionary Army and the Hmar People’s Convention. Our correspondent reports, the information was given by the Additional Director General of Assam Police Khagen Sharma while talking to media persons after a meeting with the State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi last evening. The Chief Minister, earlier, announced that these militant groups will lay down arms before the Republic Day.
