In Uttar Pradesh, nine children have succumbed to deadly Encephalitis during past 24 hours in BRD Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur. With this the death toll due to Japanese and other forms of Encephalitis has mounted to 447 this year. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that over 2800 Encephalitis patients have been admitted this year in different government hospitals. Over 275 Encephalitis patients are being treated at different government hospitals of the region.The official sources said that most of the cases are of water-borne Viral Encephalitis which is caused due to use of contaminated water.
