The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience, NIMHANS has come forward to impart training to Government Health department medical officers in stroke care. <br />'' <br />'' The NIMHANS Director Dr. G Gururaj has said during the World Stroke Day function in Bengaluru today that under the National Health Mission, a proposal is sent to organise a 2.5 year long training programme to help develop stroke care centres in 20 government hospitals in Bengaluru and neighbouring districts. <br />'' <br />'' Once functional, these hospitals will act as comprehensive pre-hospital and post-hospital care pathways for stroke care with NIMHANS as the central hub.<br />''        <br />'' AIR Correspondent reports, the stroke due to blood clot in the brain is a major health concern. <br />'' <br />'' NIMHANS is the only institute with the facility under Government sector to provide acute stroke interventions and surgeries in the state. <br />'' <br />'' The proposed pre-hospital and post hospital care pathways will create orderly referral back policy ending the misery of the patients and their attendants. <br />'' <br />'' Early detection will help cure the patients suffering from brain clot. <br />'' <br />'' The time limit for intravenous thrombolysis is four and a half hours. <br />'' <br />'' That is to say that anyone with brain clot has to be treated within that time. <br />'' <br />'' This capacity building exercise with essential training to the doctors in Government hospital will create a stroke care network in the state.<br />''
