President Pranab Mukherjee has said that the government must ensure that due priority is given to human resource development in the field of mental health care and delivery. While inaugurating the Magneto Encephalography Research Centre and the renovated heritage museum of National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro- Sciences in Bangalore today he said there is a need to systematically devise innovative methods for enhancing the delivery of mental health care services. <br/><br/>The national mental health policy of the government seeks to integrate mental health care services into general health care as part of non-communicable diseases. Mr. Mukherjee said that it is also important to address the stigma experienced by persons who are mentally ill and they should not be subjected to neglect and marginalization. The President also dedicated 'NIMHANS' to the nation as an institute of national importance.
