Night train service through Jungle Mahal, suspended since Jnaneswari mishap on May 28 last year, would be restored after the West Bengal government assures about its safety. This was stated by South Eastern Railway General Manager Benoy Mittal in Kolkata today. He said, Jungle Mahal is the Maoist-affected forested area of three districts in West Bengal — West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia. The South Eastern Railway (SER) has its own intelligence and security, but the railway needs assurance from the state government which has a major role in ensuring security to rail services. Mr. Mittal was talking to reporters at the state secretariat.
