Night race to mark 19th anniv of Formula 1 GP in Bahrain

Bahrain plans to hold the Formula 1 GP at Sakhir Circuit in Manama on April 6 next year in the night. Floodlighting has been installed and was tested at the final round of the World Endurance championship. The move to a night race will mark the 10th anniversary of the first Bahrain GP, won by Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari in 2004. It will also be welcomed by the Formula -1 racers given the high daytime temperatures. Bahrain will be F1's second night race. Singapore has held the Formula -1 racing championship in the night since its inception in 2008. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is another twilight event starting late afternoon and ending after sunset.
