The Nigerian Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has assumed office as acting President in place of the ailing Umaru Yar Adua. Mr Yar'Adua has been in Saudi Arabia since November last year receiving treatment for an heart condition. In 2005, Goodluck Jonathan was the Deputy Governor of a southern Nigerian State but today he is the acting President of Africa's most populous nation.The main question now is whether Goodluck Jonathan will hold on as the ruling Party 's Presidential candidate in the next elections in 2011.
