Militants in Nigeria have resumed attacks in oil region ending the two month long ceasefire. The main armed rebel group – MEND (Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta) on Saturday attacked a oil pipeline operated by Shell and Chevron. In an email it claimed that government officials are reluctant to continue with the peace process initiated by ailing President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.Yar'Adua has been hospitalised since the 23rd of last month in Saudi Arabia. However the group says it is open to dialogue. Nigerian president had granted amnesty to militants but MEND refused to accept the offer and announced a unilateral ceasefire in response to initiate peace talks.
