Nigerian unions have said they will go ahead with a threatened nationwide strike for a rise in the minimum wage. But union leaders said they would meet today to decide whether to strike for three days as initially planned or call off the action early. The possibility of a halt came after President Goodluck Jonathan met union leaders in emergency talks. The unions want the monthly minimum wage more than doubled to one hundred twenty dollars because prices have risen steeply. The minimum wage has not risen for a decade.
