The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange gained 56 points, or 0(point)6 percent, to close at a record high of 10,021, today. This is the first time ever that the Nifty has closed above the 10,000-mark. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 154 points, or 0.5 percent, to also hit a lifetime peak of 32,382.
