NIC announces creation of 8 Cluster Innovation Centres

National Innovation Council today announced creation of 8 Cluster Innovation Centres, CICs in the country. These clusters which will act as networking hubs for innovation ecosystems are being set up in six industries and two universities.

Announcing this at a function in New Delhi, the Chairman of National Innovation Council, Sam Pitroda said the innovation Cluster initiative aims to facilitate creation of ecosystems to foster innovation at clusters.

He said such innovation ecosystems will enable new products, services, processes and business models at the cluster, which will spur job creation and inclusive growth. Mr. Pitroda also underlined the need for creating right ecosystems for innovation.

Speaking on the occasion Secretary in the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research emphasised the role played by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research network of labs across the country.
