The Home Ministry has given its nod to National Investigation Agency, NIA to file a charge sheet against Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar and three others in the Pathankot terror
attack. Official sources said, the Ministry has given prosecution sanction to the under various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) act, Explosives Act and various sections of Indian Penal Code against Azhar, his brother Rauf Asghar and two handlers of the attack – Shahid Latif and Kashif Jaan.

The fresh charge sheet will help India in building pressure on the international community to declare Azhar and his organisation a global terror group under the United Nations' anti-terror laws. The previous attempts were spurned after China exercised its veto power. The NIA's probe will also include looking into the phone numbers and a conversation that one of the terrorists had minutes before launching the attack besides a video message of Rauf released on Jaish-affiliated website minutes after the strike.

The charge sheet will also include evidence of linking the footprints of one of the terrorists obtained from Bamiyal besides matching of DNA sample found from a soft drink can in
the hijacked car of Punjab Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh.

Interpol red corner notices have been already issued against Azhar, Rauf, Jaan and Latif but Pakistan is yet to take any action against them even as they roam freely in its territory.
The four fidayeen attackers who were residents of Pakistan's Punjab and Sindh had barged inside the Air Force base on January 1 night killing 7 security personnel. NSG and Army commandos eliminated the terrorists in an 80-hour operation.
