Interrogation of a youth, Asif Ahmed, apprehended by NIA from Kanksa in Burdwan district of West Bengal two days ago under suspicion of having ISIS links, has revealed that Ahmed was in regular touch with IS terrorists in Syria and part of a module that may have planned terror strikes in Bengal, official sources in Kolkata informed AIR today.<br/><br/>A team of NIA personnel had apprehended Ahmed, a student of first year at a privately-run polytechnic institute in Kanksa and took him away for interrogation reportedly first to Kolkata and then to Delhi. Police sources said Ahmed, staying at a room with some classmates had rented the private accommodation in a false name of Raju Das. <br/> <br/>Investigations by NIA has revealed that Ahmed, hailing from Dhanekhali in Nadia district of West Bengal, was in regular touch with Yusuf aka Safi Arman, reportedly the second in command of the ISIS terrorists in Syria through e-mail IDs and social networking. <br/><br/>The sleuths have seized a mobile phone in a search from his Dhanekhali home which has confirmed that Ahmed had also transmitted maps of getting in and out of a famous temple in Tarkeshwar, a popular pilgrimage point of Bengal. Another IS agent Zabir had given this mobile handset to Asif Ahmed during a personal meeting, the sources informed.
