NIA indicts 5 SIMI activists for anti-national activities

In Kerala, the NIA court in Kochi found five activists of the banned Students Islamic Movements of India guilty under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, UAPA today. <br/><br/>The five people found guilty today were chargesheeted by the National Investigation Agency, NIA for organising anti-government, seditious meeting at Binanipuram near Kochi on August 15th 2006. According to police, the members of the banned association assembled at an auditorium near Kochi for anti-national activities. <br/><br/>A total of 17 accused were there in the case and 11 were acquitted and another accused, who was 13 years at the time of arrest is undergoing trial at juvenile court. The punishment for the five accused, who were found guilty will be pronounced by the NIA court tomorrow after noon. They were found guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and UAPA.
