Ministry of External Affairs has said that clarification issued by DG National Investigation Agency on Pathankot air base attack is being misinterpreted.

In response to a query about the reported statement of DG NIA absolving Pakistan Government and agencies in the attack, Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the involvement of Pakistan's nationals in the Air Base attack is an accepted fact and investigations are still going on.

He said, when Foreign Secretary met his Pakistani counterpart in New Delhi in April he had stressed on the need for review of progress in investigation in the attack after return of Pakistan's Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

The JIT had gathered all evidence that it had wanted during its visit to India. Mr Swarup said, enough information has also been provided to Pakistani authorities through two Letters Rogatory to conduct investigation in Pakistan so that all those associated in Pakistan with planning, support and execution of the attack are brought to justice. He said, it would be unjust to speculate in this situation and further response and information from Pakistan should be awaited at this stage.
