NIA begins probe into capture of suspicious Iranian boat off Kerala coast

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reached the Vizhinjam coast in Thiruvananthapuram to conduct a detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the capture of an Iranian boat, off the Alappuzha coast last month. 12 accused, who were arrested from the Iranian boat, captured by the Indian Coast Guard, are now in judicial custody. NIA team held discussions with the Coast Guard authorities, Local Police and Coastal police.<br/><br/>Preliminary probe had revealed that the accused had used satellite phones to make calls to Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Investigating team had also found that crew members of the boat, had links with international drug mafia.
