The National Investigative Agency, NIA has arrested a suspected ISIS operative from Chennai yesterday afternoon. The sleuths of the central agency probing terror cases swooped down on the residence of the accused Shakul Hameed at Ottery in the city, arrested him and presented before the NIA Special Court at Poonamallee on the outskirts of the city. The court has remanded him to judicial custody. The NIA is set to move the court for securing his custody for further probe.<br/><br/>A case against nine persons were booked in New Delhi on the 26th January this year including the accused who has been arrested yesterday. The case was related to hatching conspiracy to recruit people, collect money and plan attacks on behalf of the proscribed terror organization. One more person from Tamil Nadu named Khaja Moideen alias Abdullah Muthalif has already been arrested by the NIA in the case. The IS operative Haja Fakkurudeen of Singapore who is of Indian origin is the main accused in the case. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the nine terror suspects have been accused of organizing several meetings in various parts of India to further anti-national activities. The NIA has gathered evidences for their mobilizing funds for the global terror outfit ISIS from 2013 onwards and recruiting people. <br/><br/>They are known to have sent some youth abroad, especially to Syria to join the terror group. Another accused Khaja Moideen alias Abdullah Muthalif from Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu, who was in jailed in another case in Chennai was arrested by the NIA four days back. The arrests are expected to reveal more information relating to the efforts of the terror outfit to spread its tentacles and to check its heinous designs.
