<span style="color: #222222;">National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Manipur's Congress MLA Yamthong Haokip and Chairman of the underground organization Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) David Hangshing from Imphal in connection with a weapons theft case.&nbsp;<br />''In a statement, NIA said, they have been arrested in connection with the theft case of 56 pistols and 58 magazines from the Director General of Manipur Police armoury located within the premises of the second Manipur Rifles Battalion, Imphal. These weapons were stolen in 2016 and 2017.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The agency said Yamthong Haokip was arrested yesterday for his involvement in procuring police pistols illegally and distributing them to different terrorist groups to wage war against the state. He was produced before the NIA Special Judge, Imphal and has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days. Owing to his recent illness, he has now been admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Hospital Security Ward which will be treated as a part of the jail.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The agency further said David Hangshing was also arrested yesterday on the charges of undermining the democratic process of the country and waging war against the state. The NIA has so far recovered 14 weapons in the theft case and investigation is continuing.</span><br />
