The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, today asked its Director General Investigation to inquire into the death of Delhi gangrape prime accused Ram Singh in Tihar Jail. Taking cognizance of the alleged suicide of Singh, a statement by the Rights body said, the Commission has asked the senior official to collect facts and submit a report within eight weeks. The statement said that the NHRC has received an intimation from the Jail authorities, stating that the undertrial prisoner Ram Singh was found hanging and declared dead by the medical officer of the jail at 5.45 am yesterday.
