The National Human Rights Commission has decided to close cases relating to killing of tribals allegedly by special operation group jawans at Gumudumaha village in Kandhamal district on July 8. It closed the cases as the Odisha Human Rights Commission had taken up the cases prior to it. <br/><br/>The NHRC registered the case on July 11 and assured action on a petition of a supreme court. Later as per the direction of NHRC, Kandhamal SP informed to the Commission regarding the incident. <br/><br/>NHRC had registered another case on July 15 on the information furnished by the SP. Meanwhile, the Odisha Human Rights Commission informed NHRC regarding its earlier cognizance of the incident with a case filed on July 11. Hence, the NHRC opted to close the cases.
