NHRC, SHRC seek report on Bhopal encounter

National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Madhya Pradesh Government, State Police and others in connection with the killing of 8 SIMI terrorists in an encounter yesterday after they escaped from Bhopal Central Jail.<br/><br/>Taking suo- motu cognisance of the media reports, the Commission issued notices to the State Chief Secretary,Director General of Police and the DG and IG, Prisons and called for a report within six weeks.<br/><br/>The Commission said, it has always been concerned about the deaths in police and judicial custody as well as in police action. It said, specific guidelines have also been issued to all the States for compliance in the matters of encounter.<br/><br/>The Madhya Pradesh human rights commission has also sought a report on encounter of SIMI terrorists from Inspector General of Bhopal within 15 days. <br/><br/>Eight SIMI terrorist were killed in the incident. They had fled from Bhopal central jail. <br/><br/>The Commission said that if any magisterial inquiry has been instituted than its report should be sent through Bhopal collector. <br/><br/> The state human rights commission has set up a four member team to probe the entire jail break incident. It has also made several recommendations for security and safety in jails. <br/><br/>On the other hand, state's home minister Bhupendra Singh today said that there is no need of any investigation into encounter of SIMI terrorist. He made it clear that the National Investigative Agency-NIA will only probe jail break incident of Bhopal Central Jail. <br/><br/>Meanwhile Head constable Ramashankar Yadav, who was killed by SIMI terrorists during jail break incident, was cremated with full state honour in Bhopal.
