The National Human Rights Commission on Wednesday issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government seeking its report into allegations that four houses belonging to Dalits in Bhita Village in Allahabad were demolished by members of upper caste. A statement said that the Commission gave four weeks to the Chief Secretary to submit the report. It said media reported that attackers took away the steel, cement and other construction material lying at the houses and injured five Dalits when they tried to resist them.
