The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, today issued a notice to the Assam government and sought a detailed report in connection with the violence in Kokrajhar district of the State. According to release issued by the NHRC, the Commission has asked the Assam Chief Secretary to submit a detailed report in this regard within three weeks. The Chief Secretary has been specifically asked to inform about the arrangements made for relief and rehabilitation of the affected people and the financial assistance given to the victims.

The NHRC has also decided to send its own team to study the arrangements made by the state government for rehabilitation of the persons affected by the violence. The team will submit its report to the Commission in four weeks.
