NHRC seeks report from Andhra over lack of road connectivity, healthcare facilities

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to Andhra Pradesh government over the reported lack of road connectivity and healthcare facilities leading to loss of life in tribal belt of Vijayanagaram district. <br />''<br />''<br />''Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report, the commission issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of the state and sought a detailed report in the matter within four weeks. <br />'' <br />''According to media report, a pregnant woman of Vijayanagaram district, in labour pain had to be carried by her husband and other villagers for about 12 KM, through a forest, to reach hospital. But before she could get an ambulance, the child was delivered and died. <br />''<br />''<br />''NHRC has observed that if the contents of the media report is true, it raise a serious issue of violation of human rights.<br />''<br />''<br />'' The Commission said, proper roads and health care are basic amenities to be provided by the State to its citizens. <br />''<br />
