The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC on Thursday recommended a CBI probe into a case of false implication of a journalist in Uttar Pradesh for exercising his right to freedom of expression.
The move comes in the wake of two contradictory inquiry reports of state CB-CID in the matter.
According to an official release, the Commission has also sought to know about the conduct of the then Superintendent of Police of the district and other police officers in the case.
The Journalist had been arrested in a false case of recovery of forest animal parts by the police of Lakhimpur Kheri district. The NHRC took the cognizance in the matter after it received a complaint in 2006.
