NHRC issues notices to Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana & Uttar Pradesh govts over farmers' protest

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Governments of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh states over farmers' protest asking them to submit action taken reports. The notice has been issued to the Chief Secretaries and Police Chiefs of the concerned states after the Commission received several complaints regarding the ongoing farmer's protest. The Commission said that there are allegations of adverse impact on the industrial units, seriously effecting more than 9000 micro, medium, and large companies. It said, transportation is also adversely impacted, causing the commuters, patients, physically challenged people and senior citizens to suffer due to the heavy congestion on roads. The NHRC further said that there is also an allegation of breach of the corona protocols by the agitating farmers at the protest site.<br />'' <br />''Besides, the NHRC has also asked the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) to examine the adverse impact of the farmers' agitation on industrial and commercial activities and disruption of transport services on commercial and normal consumers. It has asked the IEG to submit a comprehensive report in the matter by 10th of next month. The Commission also asked the National Disaster Management Authority, Home and Health Ministries to submit reports with respect to the adverse impact of farmers' agitation on various aspects and observance of COVID Protocols at the protest sites.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">A fresh reminder was issued to the District Magistrate Jhajjar in connection with the alleged gang rape of human rights activist at the protest site for compensation asked for a report by 10th of October.</span><br />
