The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, on Friday issued a notice to Pune Police Commissioner in connection with firing on agitating farmers on Tuesday. Acting on a complaint, the NHRC, asked the Police Commissioner to file a report within four weeks on the alleged police firing on agitating farmers, in which four persons were killed. Police, on August 9, opened fire on the farmers, who were protesting against the laying of a pipeline leading to violence.
