NHRC issues notice to Odisha govt over Japanese encephalitis cases

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notice to the Odisha government over the spread of Japanese encephalitis in Malkangiri district due to which 30 children have reportedly died in less than a month. <br/><br/>The Commission issued notices to Malkangiri District Collector and the State Health Secretary and them to submit a full report within four weeks. It asked the administration to be sensitive towards maintaining cleanliness in the area. NHRC advised the state government that vaccination of the children to protect them from the disease from the next year will be too late.<br/><br/>Health Secretary Arti Ahuja said, the department is taking all possible steps to protect the children from the disease.<br/><br/>Japanese Encephalitis spreads through mosquito bites.
