National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued notice to Madhya Pradesh government over reported deaths of 116 children due to malnutrition in Sheopur district. It has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports that the children died due to malnutrition related ailments during the last five months. <br/><br/>It observed that the reports indicate towards violation of human rights of children due to malnutrition and lack of health care by the state. It has sought a report from the state government in the matter within four weeks. The Commission has also pointed out that it has been emphasizing at every platform for proper implementation of government schemes for supplementary nutrition for both lactating mothers and children.
