The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notice to Karnataka government about reports that private school in Bangalore had cut off tufts of hair of children belonging to economically weaker section to distinguish them from others. According to an official release, the NHRC has asked the Chief Secretary to submit a report within four weeks in this regard. The Commission has also asked the Chief Secretary to inform about the action taken against the school authorities under the Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Act.
