NHRC issues notice to CBI over allegations of torture in bureaucrat BK Bansal's suicide note

National Human Rights Commission,NHRC has asked the CBI to submit an action taken report on the allegations of torture leading to the suicide by former Director General of Corporate Affairs B.K. Bansal and his family. Bansal was arrested by the CBI in July for allegedly accepting a bribe from a pharmaceutical company. <br/><br/>Taking suo motu cognisance of the media reports, the Commission issued notice to the CBI Director asking him to share the copy of suicide notes with it and action taken report within three days along with the names of the delinquent public servants. <br/><br/>The Commission observed that the police is supposed to investigate the offences as per law and they cannot be allowed to resort to physical assault, mental and physical torture of an alleged offender or his family members.<br/><br/>The CBI was investigating the charges of corruption against Bansal and in the suicide note he had made allegations of torture by the CBI officials.
