The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has constituted an advocacy group comprising 12 senior journalists to advise it in seeking enhanced and active role of media in creating awareness on human rights issues. The Advisory Group on the Media and Human Rights will be chaired by NHRC Chairperson Justice K G Balakrishnan.

The group will advise the Commission on how best to use media to promote human rights in the country and to review the existing mechanism of the Commission with regard to Media and make suggestions for further improvement.
It will also advise the Commission in seeking enhanced and active role of media in creating awareness amongst masses on the human rights issues.

Editor-in-Chief and CEO M K Razdan, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu N Ram, Editor-in-Chief of Hindustan Times Sanjoy Narayan, resident editor of The Week K S Sachidanand Murthy and Editor and CEO of Dainik Jagran Sanjay Gupta. .
